Dear 9.5 year old Kaileigh, Sometimes you and I have talked about taking a long motorcycle trip after you graduate from high school, when (I can imagine) you will want to explore a bit and will probably have your own bike and license. Usually you think that you'll have Brogan as your passenger and I'll have Mom as my passenger. I think I just found a destination for our trip! I was searing for places in Ireland today - (There's a Shay's Recording Studio in Loughrea, Ireland). I tried Kaileigh and found this road. It's very close to the Great Smoky Parkway which sounds like a very fun motorcycle road. So maybe in a decade or so, we should visit there.

Fishing last weekend

My lovely young lady,

We were in Montana the last two weekends (and you and Mom and Brogan and various Mahoneys stayed there the week in between).

On the two weekends, I was fishing with you and Brogan, along with Nathan one time and McKenna one time.  You were very excited because you love fishing so much, and you also are captivated by the idea of catching the Big Fish.  We had quite a few tangled lines, and at one point I asked you to "stop what you're doing, take a deep breath, look at what the problem is, and figure out how to fix it."  You really got into that.  You started doing this on your own when you got tangled up and instead of bouncing around and making the tangle worse, you stopped what you were doing, took a deep breath, looked at what the problem was, and figured out how to detangle yourself and keep going.  I was so proud that you did it on your own, and you got things reset, but that you also are learning to do this not just in fishing lines, but when things are a bit too overwhelming in life.

May God bless you as you learn this little rhythm!

All my love,
Dad
